So far 2022 has not been a year filled with joy and optimism, but today was a good day. Pete and I went to the garden store, where we bought 8 4-packs of pansies and violas and put them in shady spots. "Hi, you guys!" said our favorite garden store worker. "Happy spring!" While we were there I also bought a forsythia bush, and as soon as we got home I dug a big hole in the yard for it. I do love digging big holes in the yard. Very therapeutic.
I have always wanted a forsythia bush. Let us hope it does not die.
Pete and I spent some time making music this afternoon. I was writing a silly song, and I asked him to keep me on the right side of the line between silly and ridiculous. I am not entirely sure that we managed this, but we had a lot of fun anyway. Pete thought the song needed a trombone solo, which he recorded for me. He also suggested that he could rap a verse if I would beatbox for him, and this combination made us laugh until our sides hurt.
Stella and I wrapped up the day while wrapped up in the recently rectangularized pandemic blanket, reading a chapter of Pride and Prejudice. WHY was Mr. Darcy at Lydia's wedding? WILL Elizabeth's aunt be able to shed any light on the mystery?
The pandemic blanket is not finished but it is finally a rectangle rather than a weirdly shaped polygon. The whole time I was knitting it I was planning to add a border, but maybe instead I will weave in the remaining ends and call it good. Maybe THREE POUNDS of yarn is enough for one blanket. What do you think?
