Happy June, friends! I have a resolution for this month: every time I pick up an internet-connected device, I am going to say to myself "What is my purpose? How long should it take?"
This is not a perfect system. Earlier today I said to myself "I am going to confirm that the email I used for the Scout troop's treasurer earlier today was the correct email, since she has not responded." Instead I opened up my email and -- who even knows what happened. The gravitational field of that particular black hole seized hold of my sad middle-aged brain and flattened it out like a glacier-juggernaut-steamroller.
(I did eventually remember to check on the treasurer email situation.)
My hope is that this will cut down on the moments of drift, when I could be going outside or talking to another human or reading a book or whatever else, but instead I am just idling on the internet. I'll let you know how it works out.
