My campus has a monthly writing get-together for faculty, and today was my first time joining the group in more than a year. It feels good to be back in the library, good to be immersed in our separate projects at the same long tables, good to look around me and see the thoughtful faces striving slowly to expand the sum total of human knowledge. It's why I love working at a university.
We broke for lunch at noon, gathering at a single table and eating our meal together. It felt weird, honestly, but it was a good flavor of weird.
My county's number of active COVID cases is the lowest it's been since last August. What a relief to be moving in this direction, huh?
