Joe is home home home! He moved out of his dorm today and he's home for the summer. Pete and Joe are probably the closest sibling pair in the Gladly family right now, and it's especially delightful to see them together again.
Today I went for a three-mile run that felt okay, after a two-week period in which my attempts at getting back into running were comically effortful. In January and February of 2020 I was the most disciplined I have ever been about following a 10K training plan, and then came March-- canceled race, gym closures, uncertainty about the likelihood of outdoor COVID transmission. I haven't run much at all during the pandemic. But hey-- I ran three miles and it felt pretty good.
This afternoon at Mass our keyboardist was out, so the instrument mix was guitar and bass. This felt more different than I expected, in a way that I thoroughly enjoyed. We closed with an upbeat version of Hail the Day That Sees Him Rise, which is totally, unexpectedly fun to play on the bass.
We had a pleasant chatty dinner with five of us at the table eating the promised sweet potatoes and sugar snaps (and other things too). Lots of laughter and animated back-and-forth -- hurray for summer and more kids at home!
