90-something of the final year med students at the University where I work chose to graduate early (the academic year isn't over until June in the UK) last month so they could go and be Doctors treating coronavirus patients and I am so verklempt when I think about them.

Everything about the nearly-empty campuses makes me sad. And I feel such a swell of sympathy and admiration for the graduates I saw on our nearby campus, dressed in robes and posing for photos in the absence of most other forms of public celebration.

I'm not feeling hopeful for the class of 2021's chance to celebrate together, either, and I'm realizing how very much I love a world where we can all gather together in large crowds without fear, and without endangering the vulnerable among us.
