Once more with feeling

I don't know how to tell them any more clearly: if you need to use words written by someone else in your assignment, you have to tell me that they are someone else's words. Put them in quotation marks, and cite them in APA format (i.e., give me a page number). I am confident that the student whose assignment I just graded was not trying to put something over on me. I know this student. And yet in the assignment there are two separate chunks of text, lifted verbatim, without quotation marks or page numbers.
