Mostly I am happy to let California do its West Coast thing while we hang out in the affordable low-traffic Midwest, but tonight I am feeling a pang of California envy because I read this Vox article about the ways that California has been bringing down the maternal mortality rate. I have a lot of thoughts about this article. Mostly they boil down to this: why are we getting perinatal care so WRONG in this country? It is seventeen kinds of disgraceful.

Welcome to my blog, where I mostly natter on about my life with five kids. Occasionally (not very often, because teenagers keep a person humble) I dispense parenting advice.
