As soon as I hit publish I am going to set up the coffee so it will be ready for me at 5:15. I will pull out my long run checklist and line everything up for the morning: clothes, shoes, gadgets (oooh, I almost forgot: I need to charge my watch), meds, race bib with safety pins. I want to be out the door between 5:30 and 5:45. I'm doing the same 10K I've done twice before. (I wrote about the first time in this post.) I'm not very prepared for it, but I'm going to show up and have fun anyway. I used to think that the point of running was to get faster, but I have come to think there's more value in acknowledging where I am and showing up anyway. Goal #1: run joyfully.
