Yesterday I had a moment of feeling glum about the week ahead, and then I thought to myself, "What would be a really fun way to spend this afternoon?" I took the two youngest kids to a nature center about 25 minutes away. We watched hummingbirds at the feeders -- dozens of them! so cool! -- and then the kids played in the creek for an hour while I sat in the shade with my knitting. On the drive home there was thunder in the distance, and a spectacular double rainbow. It looked close enough to run to, until it faded away. We stopped at Dairy Queen on the way, even though it was really too close to dinner for eating ice cream.
It left me feeling completely un-glum. Must remember that for future Sundays.
