It is not summer meteorologically, y'all. Last night when I drafted this post I was shivering in my fleece robe + fleece pajamas combo, even though the heat is on. But today it is summer by the terms of my contract, and I am making A Plan. I do love having A Plan.
Soul: establish a weekday Mass habit (easier with summer schedules) and a compline habit.
Mind: Read! (It's going to be a 19th-century Britain kind of summer (so maybe this weather is fitting?): I'm aiming to read something by Eliot, Thackeray, and Trollope, and to re-read something by Dickens and something by Austen. Also, anachronistically, something by Shakespeare.) Write! (Blog regularly and work on novel draft faithfully.) Prune! (Track time frittered away online, and be honest about it.) Also, maybe, take piano from the kids' teacher?
Body: Sleep-- get in bed at 10, with teeth flossed, and say compline. Eat for energy: yes to produce, no to processed crap. Work out 5 times/week.
Parent: Plan 3 fun trips, and saint day surprises, and take Stella to the kids' museum until she gets tired of it. Finish Two Towers. Print out checklists for kids' daily tasks, and make sure tasks come before screens. Get this year's pictures into an album.
Prof: submit ms #1 by the end of May, prep poster, prep summer class, draft fall syllabi, get 2 IRBs approved, buy equipment and start scheduling interviews, submit ms #2 before August 15.
Home: schedule paint touch-up, figure out linoleum floors (finally!), clean up basement and back steps or die trying.
