Boy, you make me want to read that book again. (Think it was one of my grandfather's favorite books.). Happy holiday season! Kerry

It's been awhile since I read it but I did enjoy it. When did your boys first read it? At what point would it be appreciated as a read-aloud? For reference, my 7 and 9 year olds both just read Ender's Game.

I always assumed you'd read this book WAY before I did.

Have you read the next one? I liked it more than I expected to given that WD is my Favorite!

Amy F., I have read it aloud to kids ranging from 4 to 11. There's a fair amount of landscape description, so some kids will get wiggly regardless of their age.

I had forgotten how much I loved that book! Thanks for the reminder. Now I need to dig it out again, if I still have a copy. Another rabbit book I loved as a kid was Felix Salten's Fifteen Rabbits, but I wonder how it would read now as a grown-up. Same with Adams' Plague Dogs, about the dogs that escape the testing lab. Can't remember much more about it. But my memory of Watership Down is colored by that animated special that had a very ghostly Black Rabbit flying around.
