I read it. I found the final chapter distrurbing; he seemed to want fatherhood as a prize, without concern for the kid involved. He felt entitled to the t-shirt. I hope actual parenting (of his latest kid?) teaches him better.

But I found the various horizontal identities moving -- the idea of sending a child into Deaf culture knowing that you can't follow all the way.

This sounds fascinating. I just ordered it from half.com, but probably won't get around to reading it until after the holidays. I'd love to discuss it once I do, though.
