I have a sick little girl.
She's not all that sick during the day, just a little sniffly with a low-grade fever that comes and goes. At night, though, she can't stop coughing and she can't get settled. This morning I said to Elwood, "I bet she asked for me a hundred times last night." A hundred is too high, but she surely did wake me up a lot.
She's sleeping badly, and so I'm sleeping badly, and I'm missing the days when we thought that dextromethorphan did something for coughing. I've got her propped up on an extra pillow, and I have the soles of her little feet coated in generic Vaporub. She is skeptical about honey, or I'd try that too. I wish there were a better way to help her rest better.
I am dragging in a big way. How did I function when she used to sleep terribly all the time?
