sadly the first thing I thought of when I saw your post title was Huey Lewis and the News.

Hope she feels better!

I think it's worse almost when your body gets used to 6 straight hours; waking up when you feel you should not be woken up is brutal.
PS: I use a brown sugar / sambuc syrup (found in pharmacy, not my own) that's proven surprisingly helpful for the honey-haters .

We put one of these in L's room when he's coughing and it works WONDERS:

Seriously -- if he's sick, he coughs. If we put this in his room, he doesn't cough and he sleeps MUCH better.

Speaking from a family of asthmatics, I have to wonder if she has asthma?? The night cough, that much waking, it doesn't sound good ... it just makes me wonder. It is definitely worth getting checked.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

I always forgot about putting a humidifier in the kid's room when they got a cough. Have you done that too?

Also push water during her waking hours to keep those mucous membranes moist.
