Oh my GOODNESS, the grading. You would not BELIEVE the grading. I finished a batch of assignments this afternoon and I am so looking forward to a day without grading. Of course on Monday I'll give a final and on Tuesday I'll get 50 10-12 page papers to grade, but tomorrow I will not grade a thing. Huzzah!
I was doing better than usual with the seasonal blues until about a week ago, and I've been fighting off The Crazy since then. Less than two weeks until the days start getting longer. At least my children make me laugh. Conversation from this morning with my boy who is whip-smart but gets lost in his own neighborhood:
"Are we near the soccer fields?"
"No. We're miles north of the soccer fields."
"Oh, there's a fence like that near the soccer fields."
"That's the problem with navigating by landmarks."
"Navigating by landmarks -- that's what I do. Except for the navigating part."
It's interesting to see the contrast between him and a sibling who has a knack for remembering locations and giving directions. Brains and genes are a curious mix.
End of the semester is playing hob with my Shakespeare reading schedule, but I am going to go and finish Venus and Adonis. I'm enjoying it more than I expected. Also, I retract my complaints about Coriolanus. I'll see if I can get a post up about it tomorrow.
