Watership Down! How I adore Bigwig, with his big rough loyal heart -- longing to tell Hyzenthlay that he was her secret friend, calmly asserting that his chief rabbit had ordered him to hold this path, and so he would. Can't wait until the Boy is old enough for that. And Tolkien. And Earthsea. And Little House, even though I don't know many boys who were into them, but I'll give it a try. And too many more to mention.

I recently finished Bleak House. I almost stopped 1/8 of the way through, but your recent posts on Dickens encouraged me to keep going and I'm glad I did.

I started The Magicians, but it quickly became apparent that it wasn't a book I wanted to finish.

Yay Watership! I've read it at least 3 times and it gets better every time.

Huh. I tried reading Watership to my husband some years ago and found that it didn't read aloud that well. I love it- I just kept getting bogged down.

(He'd previously sat still for most of the Anne of Green Gables series, Rosemary Sutcliff's The Lantern Bearers, and lots of Robin McKinley)
