One of my committee members has a busy clinical practice -- so busy that a two-hour meeting with him must be scheduled three months in advance. I am going to defend my dissertation on March 10, it looks like.
This means I have to finish writing the thing between now and then.
OOOOHHHH, having a date is just so absolutely awesome!! I'm thrilled for you, you're the best! WOW. You and Kalynned Pudner, the mom with nine kids who had 5 while doing her Ph.D. (you already had four of yours) are my heroes (heroines doesn't sound too good anymore, does it? you pick).
In any case, things like these --a committee member with time constraints -- end up being a big blessing in the end. I need firm outside deadlines like those and I didn't have one until about, I don't know, a month and a half before the date? I'll have to go dig in my blog archives to find out. I can't believe it's been only 18 months, it feels much longer ago.

Wow. Congratulations. (Firm deadlines are scary, but good.)
