Is anyone else haunting the Virginia Tech website?
I am about to do that annoying blogger thing where I talk about my little personal connection to an awful event. If you hate when bloggers do that, skip down a couple of paragraphs. But: my cousin-in-law, a great kid (I mean a great young adult, of course, but can he really be that old already?), is a sophomore at Virginia Tech. A sophomore with classes in Norris Hall. A sophomore who lives three floors below the site of the first incident -- he heard the shots.
I was pleased when I heard he was heading to Virginia Tech, because I went to high school about 80 miles from there -- several of my classmates wound up there. Blacksburg is a pretty little town and I was betting the CIL would be happy.
Who could have imagined?
I just saw that the IRS is giving a six-month extension on both filing and payment to families affected by Monday's events. Which is great, of course. But I saw that and thought how nothing is certain except death and taxes. I'm not sure I like what's left if you take away the taxes part.
