Oh dear, I had never heard of this fallacy and I'm pretty sure it's quite real and it afflicts me more often than I'd like to think it does!

And I'm glad that I go online to check blogs on the day after you published this. I'm trying to get to write more too... sigh... Thanks for still being around. I hope you can feel better about the possibly lost money/race and still go for runs even if you're going to miss it in the end.

Seth Godin recently talked about this idea on his podcast...


Sunk cost combined with involving someone else seems to work best for me. I won't go because I have a gym membership but I will for a personal trainer (partly because of sunk cost...that was expensive).
