I folded this news into the post below because it struck me so forcefully after a morning of petty concerns, but my BIL deserves a post of his own.
He died earlier today, in his own bed with his family near.
Remember when my SIL asked for prayers to ease their younger daughter out of their bed? While we were talking about it she said something like, "I just want to lie next to him and feel his skin against mine." She climbed in next to him one last time today. He died while she lay next to him.
He was a patient husband and a joyful father. He waited a long time for those little girls, and he enjoyed them to the fullest.
It's hard to believe he's gone.
